What Basis is

Basis is a social layer on top of streaming services. We display your top artists, top tracks, top genres, and reviews on a public profile you can share. We do not stream audio. We display metadata and album art fetched from Spotify (and in the future, other providers).

Your account

You sign in with Spotify. We use the access token Spotify grants to fetch your top artists, top tracks, and top genres. You can disconnect at any time from /settings — see our privacy policy for what gets deleted.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload or display content that violates Spotify's terms
  • Use Basis to harass, abuse, or harm another person
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or access controls
  • Use Basis in any way that violates applicable law

Content & Spotify data

All Spotify metadata (artist names, track names, album art) is the property of Spotify and the respective rights holders. Basis displays this metadata under Spotify's terms. We do not claim ownership of any Spotify Content. If you believe content displayed on Basis infringes your copyright, contact us at legal@basis.fm.

Disclaimer

Basis is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Basis shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of your jurisdiction of residence. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time by disconnecting Spotify from /settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. We will provide notice when feasible.
