Music is social.
Why is your
profile private?
We built Basis because we kept asking each other: "who has the weirdest taste in this room?" The answer was always interesting — and always impossible to back up with data.
Streaming made music invisible.
Every platform shows you what to listen to next. Algorithms optimise for engagement, not discovery through people you actually know. Your taste becomes a scroll of homogenous recommendations — and the thing that used to make music interesting, the human context behind why someone loves a song, disappears entirely.
Meanwhile, your friends are out there with genuinely excellent taste. You just can't see it.
Profiles you can actually compare.
Basis takes your top artists, tracks, and genres from Spotify and renders them as a public profile. Anyone can see what you're into — no followers required, no social graph to build. Then we show you the overlap: who has the same artists, who shares your genres, where your taste actually intersects.
It's not a social network. It's a social layer on top of a listening history you already have.
What we believe
No algorithms
We don't recommend. We don't rank. We don't optimise for your attention. We show you what is — your listening, your friends' listening, and where they overlap.
Your data stays yours
We only ask for read access to your listening history. We never write to your Spotify account. We never sell or share your data.
Social by design
The point is the comparison. A profile without the ability to compare it with anyone else's is a dead end. Every feature exists to make that moment richer.
